Makawao Invitational - The Rest of the Story

I was thrilled at the invitation to represent O'ahu and join
21 other dedicated Plein Air artists on Maui for this annual
event hosted by Viewpoints Gallery in Makawao. I painted
non-stop for 10 straight days from sunup to sundown
all over Haleakala, Wailea and Kihei.
Exhilarating? YES! Inspiring? DEFINITELY!
Exhausting? FOR SURE. But, given the chance,
I would do it all over again beginning tomorrow.

One of the days lasted 14 hours including a wet painting exhibition finale.
The Gala Show and Reception at Viewpoints Gallery in Makawao
on July 3 showcased three of the best paintings from each artist
with a month-long show ending  July 28, 2009

The editors of Art & Culture on Maui Magazine awarded my painting,
Daily Greens, the best painting representing the island of Maui.
They will be publishing a feature article about my artwork for
the first 6 months of 2010 and the magazine is placed
in most hotel rooms on the island.

You may view five of my latest Invitational paintings
in the "Fresh Paint" collection that your best wishes inspired.

Reception: 4/4/2009 • 3 to 5 p.m.

You're invited to take a vicarious journey to southern Utah and view my
new collection of paintings inspired by the incredible color and
stunning geology of two amazing U.S. National Parks-the sensational Zion
(celebrating its Centennial this year) and Capitol Reef.  In "Cliffs and
Canyons" I've attempted to capture on canvas some of the essence of what
makes these National Parks such wonders of our world.
