Harvest Time
(Four x Print Sizes)
Fresh pineapple, picked ripe. They don’t ripen more at home because they don’t have any starch, so “eat’um now”. Captured here, a crew of pickers in colorful protective clothing follows a harvesting machine through the fields selecting ripe “pines”. They place them on a moving conveyor that goes up an elevator, not visible here, into a crate on the back of a truck similar to the one waiting in the background. The location of this painting was the Del Monte fields in Kunia (now gone) on the island of Oahu. What used to be is sadly no more.
