Ripe and Ready
( x See "Giclee Info")
Fresh tropical fruit, golden ripe, sweet and delicious each nestled in the leaves of a single plant. Once a common site on all the Hawaiian islands, but now slowly vanishing. New pineapple varieties are sweeter and have more nutrition than the previous common variety, “smooth cayenne.” Here it is shown ready for harvest. Eat’um now, because pineapples do not contain starches to allow them to get sweeter later. So, pineapples are as ripe as they are going to get once they are picked. This painting is dedicated to all the people who have worked in the pineapple industry in Hawaii over the past 100 years.
